Prime location reinforced by marketing offensive! The Bodensee-Oberschwaben IHK (Chamber of Commerce and Industry) responded to increasing competition from other regions and federal states with a marketing offensive. With its polarising campaign, the industry self-regulator not only earned enthusiastic praise among IHK members, but also received plenty of back-up from its own ranks. Interest in an industrial settlement in Germany’s most successful region (according to a 2007 survey by Stern magazine) also increased in the neighbouring regions and countries. Few other topics have met with such approval among the IHK’s senior ranks as this marketing offensive, which generated a high level of identification and acceptance, and probably ensured the retention of important production sites in the region.
