For all the creative minds of this world, like mine, trying out an advertising agency is a must. Advertising accounts for a large part of our everyday lives and involves an incredibly large range of possibilities. It is great to be able to contribute to this. I was always a child with a burning desire to put pen to paper and produce creative things. So it was logical for me to do an internship in the field of advertising. Schindler Parent was the right place for me to do it. In the “Text” division, I was able to spend two weeks looking over the shoulders of copywriters and even collaborate on some exciting projects.

What came as a total surprise to me – and really excited me – was the fact that I was allowed to contribute to some really cool things. For example, Schindler Parent has been working with the Lago Shopping Centre, which is starting a new campaign for the spring and summer. My task was to help with a concept for setting up and starting the Lago Instagram page. I was also allowed to take part in various meetings and present my ideas. Another of my remits was to draft advertising copy with suitable headlines, for example, for the Backhaus Mahl’s Mother’s Day campaign. I especially liked this task as my creative mind was given free rein and I could really have a lot of fun playing with the words. Part of my internship was also spent transcribing interviews. Here, I learned to handle the keyboard quicker and my absorption capacity grew immensely. I can well imagine that this will continue to help me in my studies, when I have to commit the words of my professors to paper.

I can recommend this type of internship to all students interested in advertising and who can see themselves there at some point. I had a great introduction to the everyday world of advertising and felt part of the company straight away. I felt able to play an important role. My ideas were taken seriously and were even at times included in the concepts. This trip showed me how diverse and exciting the world of advertising is. I was able to take so much away; I am heading excitedly off into the future with great visions and my head full of ideas.
