Schindler Parent's sustainability statement has been online on the DNK website since July 3, 2023. With the Sustainability Report for 2022, the agency documents its commitment to making its own processes even more targeted ecologically, economically, and socially.
"Sustainability communication is becoming increasingly important today," says Manuela Schwarz, Finance Director at Schindler Parent and GWA Vice President, explaining the motivation for going through the DNK process. "This applies to our clients just as much as it does to us as an agency. We have already initiated numerous sustainability measures in the agency in recent years. We don't mean the obligatory switch from coffee pods to bean-to-cup coffee - that too - but above all we have switched to green electricity. Our vehicle fleet now consists almost entirely of e-vehicles - and we now cultivate our own bee colonies on the agency premises. But the crucial thing is that we understand sustainability - in the spirit of the Sustainability Code - not just ecologically, but also economically and socially.
The agency has established concrete sustainability structures as part of the Sustainability Code process. A core team with participants from all departments contributed to the preparation of the report. At the same time, the team members acted and still act as contact persons in their departments. "It is important for us," says Manuela Schwarz, "to involve everyone as far as possible without over-inflating the process. To this end, we have created a participation platform that serves as an overarching optimization management system. The agency and its employees benefit from this. But it also benefits the customers."
"We see," says Sascha Schmidt, Schindler Parent customer consultant, "that the sustainability issue is also gaining relevance for our customers. Some of our customers are already subject to reporting requirements under the CSRD - and for many it will become an issue by 2026 at the latest. We see ourselves as consultants who can convey the many aspects of sustainability and know how to communicate them.
This is already happening in many cases. Last year, for example, Schindler Parent supported customers such as ABT Sportsline and Theben in their sustainability communication. A special highlight was certainly the trade fair stand for Düker, with which the company presented itself under the motto "Sustainability is an Attitude" at the IFAT 2022 in Munich. The entire stand, right down to the giveaways, was made of sustainable, recyclable materials.
So it was only logical that the agency published its own sustainability report. "The German Sustainability Code was the ideal platform for us," says Manuela Schwarz. "Now we are a DNK user. And we plan to report on progress in our sustainability strategy at regular intervals."
